The history of the development of sociological sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences dates back to 1936-1942, when the Institute of Rural Sociology functioned within the structure of the University, founded and headed until 1938 by Władysław Grabski – an outstanding economist and historian, known as the author of many reforms, in including currency reform. W. Grabski conducted economic, social and scientific activity, dealing mainly with rural issues. In the years 1926-28 he was the rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
Research topics carried out by employees of the Institute of Sociological Sciences and Pedagogy in the field of sociology focus on the following research areas: theoretical orientations and research perspectives of sociology; local communities and local government in the perspective of globalization processes; continuity and change in the transformation process; society and politics in local and international conditions; cultural dimensions of communication in contemporary society.
