On 5 October, the SGGW Crystal Hall hosted Welcome Day – a meeting for foreign students starting their academic adventure at our University.
The event was attended by over 300 people from various corners of the world who chose to study at SGGW because of the wide range of courses on offer, the international character of the campus, and the support provided by our academic community.
The meeting was opened by Marta Mendel, PhD, SGGW Vice-Rector for Internationalization. The Vice-Rector welcomed the participants and expressed her hope for their fruitful cooperation with the University. This was followed by a presentation of the activities of the most important student organizations, including the Student Council of the University (RUSS) and Student Council International (SCI SGGW), which play a key role in academic life.
An important highlight of the programme was a presentation prepared by WePoint on the legalization of residence, insurance, and the Polish health care system. Participants also received detailed information about the Erasmus Student Network (ESN SGGW), which supports foreign students in making new friends and integrating.
After a presentation about, among other things, the campus infrastructure, the SGGW Map application, the public transport system, and the availability of sports facilities, students had the opportunity to take part in a quiz testing their knowledge of SGGW and Poland.
During the Welcome Day, students participated in compulsory training on student rights and duties. During the meeting, the organization of studies, forms of classes, and syllabuses were discussed in detail. Those interested were also able to find out about scholarship offers and forms of financial support.
In addition to getting to know the university, the event was a good opportunity to make first acquaintances.
