Mission and strategy of the university
The Warsaw University of Life Sciences is a modern university of natural sciences dating back to the Agronomic Institute in Marymont, established in 1816. The Institute was established on the initiative of prominent politicians and economic activists, such as Stanislaw Staszic. He not only educated and conducted research, but also disseminated knowledge. He significantly contributed to the economic and intellectual development of the 19th-century Poland.
In keeping with tradition, our University conducts research in the broadly understood field of natural sciences, as well as in economic, sciences humanities and technical sciences. SGGW strives to expand scientific research and update its study programs.
The University disseminateses the achievement of science. In order to meet the social demand, SGGW conducts various forms of lifelong learning, including postgraduate studies.
The University pays close attention to cooperation with other countries through joint research and training initiatives, while considering its special role in cooperation with the countries of the European Union and Eastern Europe.
Operating at both local and global levels, SGGW takes special care of the quality of education and thus the high level of the graduates.
The university treats people as their greatest wealth and cares for good interpersonal relations and intellectual development. It is open to the needs of Warsaw, Mazovia, and the whole country in terms of education, research and various forms of counseling. While educating students, SGGW strives to shape an open world view, tolerance, patriotism, honesty, scientific integrity, and respect for all people.

The mission of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences is to serve the economic and intellectual development of Polish society, with a particular focus on rural areas, food economy and the wider environment. Our goal is to conduct scientific research and education as well as implement activities at the highest level.
