The international research group develops wooden construction materials with a low environmental impact
Researchers involved in the BarkBuild project met (10 April 2024) at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences to discuss the project’s research and progress. The meeting provided opportunities for discussions and experience sharing necessary to achieve the project’s goals.
BarkBuild is a European project carried out within the framework of the ForestValue ERA-NET program. The project deals with social challenges related to climate change by developing new, durable wooden building materials with a low environmental impact, which will replace products with a higher carbon footprint and low environmental harm. The main research objective of the BarkBuild project is to develop new preparations for both wood protection and the creation of new composites based on bark and its components and to demonstrate their technical benefits, safety, and sustainable development in wood impregnation, surface protection, and polymer composites for external and internal use.
dr hab. inż. Grzegorz Kowaluk, prof. SGGW from Instytut Nauk Drzewnych i Meblarstwa is the SGGW project leader.
