Every year, ELLS (the Euroleague for Life Sciences) invites students from ELLS and ELLS partner universities to participate in the Scientific Student Conference. This year the host of this conference was the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague.
ELLS General Assembly & Forum – international cooperation
Thursday and Friday (September 23-24) were the days of intensive work by the board of Euroleague for Life Sciences and the university staff members of the ELLS: ELLS General Assembly and Forum „Opportunities for ELLS in the new Erasmus+ programme period (2021-2027)”.
ELLS Student Scientific Conference – SGGW students’ achievements
September 23-24 was also the time of the ELLS Student Conference with the leading topic „The Interconnectedness of things – A path towards sustainable solutions”. After a two-year break, this conference was organized face-to-face on the CZU campus.
Our students gained awards in the following categories:
- GREEN THINKING – FINDINGS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT – Best Poster Presentation: Ms. Karolina Mosieniak „Historical problems require modern solutions – revalorization of Sue Ryder Square in Warsaw”
- VARYING FAUNA – ANIMAL PERSPECTIVE – Best Poster Presentation: Ms. Maja Mielnicka „A zoo-housed African elephant pavilion project with the use of Paddock paradise concept”
- DESIGNING THE MODERN WORLD – HUMAN PERSPECTIVE – Best Oral Presentation: Mr. Przemysław Pluta „The efficiency of environmental education teaching methods – important factor on the way towards sustainable future”
Team of Igor Olech (Warsaw University of Life Sciences), Peter Muller (University of Hohenheim) and Chiara Coluccia (Wageningen University & Research) won the prize for the best case study presented during the conference. Team members participated in the intensive programme in Sokoły municipality (Podlaskie region, Poland) in July 2022 and then prepared the project „Ecological practices for maize farming in Sokoły: an introduction to living mulch”.

About ELLS
Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) is an organization associating leading agricultural and natural science universities – https://www.sggw.edu.pl/en/home/collaboration-and-services/international-cooperation/ells/.
The main goal of the EUROLEAGUE is to develop and run joint research and teaching programs, to foster the mobility of students and university teachers by simplifying relevant procedures, and to ensure high-quality teaching. The curricula offered by the universities – the members of the ELLS network – include master’s degrees usually offered by these institutions, with the mutual recognition of courses and the ECTS system, as well as joint short-term programs implemented under the so-called summer schools. One of the goals of the organization is to run joint master’s degrees with mutual recognition of diplomas.
