SGGW will organise an international event on 22 April 2025 in Osaka as part of the Polish Earth Day and Polish Science Week at the EXPO 2025 World Exposition. The event will be held as part of a project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.
The event will inaugurate the Polish Science Week, starting on 22 April on Polish Earth Day, promoting the achievements of Polish science and projects for sustainable development.
The event programme will include two debates: “Challenge for Food Loss Reduction with DX and AI Application’, prepared by Prof Magdalena Vaverkova from the Department of Sustainable Construction and Geodesy at SGGW, and “Innovative Technologies in Healthcare”, developed by Prof Mohamed Hazem Kalaji from the Department of Plant Physiology at SGGW. The debates will be complemented by a matchmaking session with Japanese academics.
Representatives from Japanese academic institutions, including Prof Yasuhiro Matsui of Okayama University, governmental and non-governmental institutions such as Meals on Wheels Japan TOP, and the Japanese business world, including the AI sector, have also been invited to join the conversation.
SGGW, as a Polish Earth Day content partner, joins the international dialogue on the future of societies by promoting Polish science and innovation during this prestigious event. The event, which emphasises the role of Polish natural science universities in creating innovative scientific solutions, is an important item on Poland’s agenda at EXPO 2025. The watchword for Poland’s presence at the world exhibition, ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, points to the need to build the future with life on Earth in the broadest sense.
International dimension of science and innovation
Thanks to cooperation with the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and SGGW’s involvement in international research projects, the Osaka event will provide an opportunity to present scientific achievements and discuss opportunities for cooperation at the interface between science and the economy. The aim is to build a better future by responding to the challenges of the modern world.
The Polish Investment and Trade Agency, the organiser of Poland’s participation in EXPO 2025, is a partner of the event.
