SGGW scientists joined the PAS Committee on Climate Crisis
dr hab. Mateusz Grygoruk, prof. SGGW and dr hab. Mikołaj Piniewski, prof. SGGW, representing the Department of Hydrology, Meteorology and Water Management of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, SGGW, became members of the PAS Committee on Climate Crisis.
26 Committee members represent various fields of science. Their tasks include:
- ongoing communication on various aspects of the growing climate crisis, in particular, those related to reductions of greenhouse gas emissions and climate change adaptation; development of recommendations for climate policy as well as mitigation and adaptation measures in line with the latest scientific knowledge, to be undertaken at all levels;
- ensuring substantive, knowledge-based support for social and bottom-up initiatives related to climate protection and adaptation to its change;
- publishing information for social understanding of the causes, mechanisms and possible effects of extreme climate-related phenomena occurring in Poland and worldwide.
