SGGW representatives in the Vatican
The honorary patronage over the event was taken by prof. Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science and prof. Marcin Wiącek, the Commissioner for Human Rights of Poland.
The representatives of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences as well as the other participants from Polish and foreign universities were greeted by the Pope at the general audience, whereas the Rector of our university conveyed wishes from the SGGW academic community. The International Scientific Conference “Human rights in the teachings of John Paul II” was held 30. November in the John Paul II auditorium at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church in Rome. The conference was attended by representatives of the Polish and Italian scientific communities, the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Deputy Ombudsman, local authorities and Polish priests working in Rome with the Rector of the St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr church, Fr Paweł Ptasznik. The conference was also participated by HE Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Holy See, Adam Kwiatkowski, and, Dr. Anna Kurdziel.
The SGGW representatives took part in the morning mass at St. Peter Basilica, at the tomb of John Paul II, celebrated by Archbishop Konrad Krajewski. Then, the SGGW Rector laid flowers down at the grave of the Pope, on behalf of the University’s academic community. During the visit to Rome, the SGGW authorities met the representatives of the Roma Tre University to discuss future cooperation, in terms of joint research projects, and students, and staff mobility.
