SGGW Days! The Science picnic on the university campus!
After a two-year break caused by the pandemic, our university returns with the SGGW Days celebration on the campus. The event is held under the patronage of the SGGW Doctoral School.
SGGW days is a two-day event (this year 20-21 May) organized by the academic community. It has always been of great interest not only to the Varsovians but to the high school graduates interested in studying at our university. It is a great opportunity to present the scientific achievements of the SGGW academic staff and students.
During the SGGW Days festivities, some stands prepared by different university divisions, faculties, student scientific clubs and other units will be at the disposal of the guests, and everyone will be able to find something interesting for themselves. There will be some interesting workshops and shows at the above mentioned stands, and in front of the Pałac Ursynowski (the university authorities’ seat) there will be a stage for the following artists: SGGW Orchestra, the PROMNI folk group, Sqer Dance. Academic Choir, and the AKTEON Hunting Horns group.
The production of artificial blood, a burning hand show, culinary workshops and dietary recommendations, some advice on how to buy cheese, a dendrological walk around the campus, the DNA isolation from saliva, establishing a wildflower meadow, the police horse training show, a presentation of poultry, exotic animals and insects, setting up a freshwater aquarium, trips to the SGGW veterinary clinics and the Museum of Osteology, a presentation of renewable energy generating systems, the forest perfumes and pine and fir needle essential oils workshops, the green roof technology exhibition, are some of the attractions prepared for visitors. There will also be special play zones for children.
The SGGW Doctoral School will present the current offer of doctoral studies and an exhibition of winning works in the best poster competition. An interesting offer has been prepared by the SGGW Main Library.
The SGGW Days festival is a unique opportunity to see some old prints from the library collections. The training session “How to learn effectively?” also sounds interesting as well as “The practical memory techniques”, and workshops on “Book folding – the art of decorative folding of book pages and creating ornaments“. The NBP will also prepare its stand where anyone will be able to learn how to recognize the authenticity of Polish banknotes and try to break the code to the safe, see the bank escort uniform, the “Great Polish Economists” exhibition and buy some collector’s items, eventually.
SGGW Days will be accompanied by an event organized in the Main Library reading room, i.e., the 4th Gladius Battle Games Convention. It is an event integrating the wargaming community in Poland and an extraordinary attraction for people interested in board games.
