National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR)
In accordance with Article 29 and 30 established on 30 April 2010, The National Centre for Research and Development is responsible for supporting the development of modern solutions and technologies that increase innovation and thus the competitiveness of the Polish economy. The Centre’s activities are intended to strengthen cooperation between Polish business and to contribute to the commercialization of research results for the benefit of the Polish economy. These objectives are pursued by NCBR by developing programmes to support applied research and R&D work, financing commercialization and transfer of results to the economy, as well as supporting the development of young scientific staff. In carrying out its tasks, the Centre shall also cooperate with other actors in setting up joint ventures and sectoral programmes. The Centre shall also continue its work on the monitoring of projects commissioned by the MNiSW.
It is an executive agency set up to support scientific activities in the field of basic research, i.e. experimental or theoretical work undertaken primarily to acquire new knowledge of the basis of phenomena and observable facts, without a focus on direct commercial application.
