Insurance
Social security
Doctoral students who have started their doctoral studies at doctoral schools are compulsorily subject to retirement, disability and accident insurance. These persons are also subject to voluntary health insurance. Each participant of the doctoral school receiving a doctoral scholarship is required to complete and submit to the school’s office an insurance application form ZUS ZUA. The basis for calculating social security contributions for these people is the amount of the doctoral scholarship
Health insurance
Pursuant to Art. 86 sec. 1 point 6 and 14 of the Act of 27 August 2004 on health care services financed from public funds (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1510), the university running a doctoral school reports to health insurance and pays contributions for doctoral students when the persons concerned submit an appropriate declaration that they are not subject to the obligation of health insurance on a different basis. A university running a doctoral school is exempt from the obligation to have health insurance for a student who has the status of a family member of the insured person.
