Conference "Model of functioning of Doctoral Schools"
On 15-16.11.2019, a national Scientific and Training Conference was held, entitled “Model of Functioning of Doctoral Schools” organized by the National Representation of Doctoral Students. The head of the SGGW Doctoral School, Dr. Justyna Franc-Dąbrowska, prof. was a speaker in the Panel on the subject: “Quality – is it really?”
Professor Arkadiusz Radwan described the above conference as follows: “The National Representation of Doctoral Candidates together with the Warsaw Doctoral Agreement recently organized another great conference from the series “Model of Functioning of Doctoral Schools”. I had the pleasure of appearing in a panel dedicated to quality assurance (together with Prof. Romuald Zabielski from PAN, Prof. Justyna Franc-Dąbrowska from SGGW, Prof. Ilona Świątek-Barylska from UŁ, Gracjana Woźniak from PL, Igor Kilanowski from UKSW and Zuza Mieszkowska from PWr). All because in the draft Act 2.0
According to the Allerhand Institute, there are Doctoral Colleges, which makes me – as I learned – suspected in the community of inventing doctoral schools. I explain, therefore, that doctoral schools according to the law prepared in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and adopted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland are quite significantly different from our concept. Therefore, both those who write to my account as a success and those who blame me for them do so wrongly. What is right, however, is the joy and optimism of all those who note that universities are making changes and raising standards themselves. I really liked the solutions adopted in SGGW and at the University of Lodz, which were talked about by co-fans. That’s what reform was all about – more autonomy for universities and accountability for outcomes, more than regulation of everything in advance. Briefly about the conference in the video.”
This year’s edition of the event was organized as part of the public task “BoN – Industry on Science in the National Representation of Doctoral Candidates”, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the competition “Organizing and animating activities for academia in 2019”
