Recognition of foreign diplomas and certificates
DOCUMENTS RECOGNISED BY OPERATION OF LAW IN POLAND (AUTOMATIC RECOGNITION)
Certificates recognised by operation of law are not subject to the procedure of recognition by the Education Superintendent. The owners of such documents have right to submitt it directly to the University. Applies to:
- Certificates, diplomas or other educational documents that confirm the completion of secondary education in the European Union, European Economic Area (EEA) or OECD member states as well as the right to apply for higher education programs in the country of issue shall be recognized in Poland by law (i.e. automatically).
This rule concerns the following countries:
AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, BULGARIA, CHILE, CROATIA, CYPRUS, CZECH REPUBLIC, DENMARK, ESTONIA, FINLAND, FRANCE, GREECE, SPAIN, IRELAND, ICELAND, ISRAEL, JAPAN, CANADA, KOREA, LIECHTENSTEIN, LITHUANIA MEXICO, NETHERLANDS (GERMANY), GERMANY, NORWAY, NEW ZEALAND, PORTUGAL, ROMANIA, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SWITZERLAND, SWEDEN, TURKEY, USA, HUNGARY, GREAT BRITAIN, ITALY.
- IB (International Baccalaureate) diplomas issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva,
- EB (European Baccalaureate) diplomas issued by the European Schools in accordance with the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools,
- Certificates, diplomas and other documents issued abroad by schools or educational institutions in accordance with the principles laid down in bilateral agreements on mutual diploma recognition – documents issued in: Belarus, Ukraine, China (gaozhong)
RECOGNITION PROCEDURE BY POLISH EDUCATION SUPERINTENDENT
Secondary school leaving certificate which are not recognized in Poland by operation of law or under an international agreement undergo obligatory the recognition procedure. Recognition procedure is done by the Polish Education Superintendent in a way of administrative decision.
Recognition of a certificate or the level of education is done by the Education Superintendent appropriate for the place of residence of the Applicant, and if there is no such place, for the official seat of the institution where the Applicant is going to submit the certificate.
