About studies
The subjects of the studies include the following thematic blocks:
- legal bases of geotechnical design (European geotechnical standards, construction law, water law, geological and mining law),
- Eurocode 7 Geotechnical design,
- methodology and interpretation of laboratory and field tests,
- selection of parameters and geotechnical calculations,
- geotechnical design of direct foundations,
- geotechnical design of pile foundations,
- geotechnical design of retaining structures,
- geotechnical design of embankments and excavations,
- assessment of the safety of buildings and their impact on the environment,
- graduation seminars.
Listeners
Postgraduate studies are addressed to the professional staff with higher education who want to improve their qualifications by expanding theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of geotechnical design according to the principles given in Eurocode 7. Postgraduate studies are intended mainly for graduates of construction and environmental engineering.
Duration
The studies will last 2 semesters with an inter-semester break. Classes will be conducted in the form of lectures, seminars and exercises (laboratory and field and numerical calculations). A total of 182 hours are planned, which will be carried out as part of 13 Saturday and Sunday meetings. The participants, after passing the tests at the end of the semesters, submitting their diploma thesis and passing the exam, will receive a certificate of completion of postgraduate studies. It is planned to create two exercise groups:
Group G1 – laboratory and field tests, selection of parameters and geotechnical calculations
G2 Group – geotechnical design in road and railway construction.
Classes will be held on the following dates:
- 1st semester: October 13, 2018 – February 10, 2019 (7 sessions)
dates of meetings: 13-14.10.2018; October 27-28, 2018; November 24-25, 2018; 08-09.12.2018; January 12-13, 2019; Jan 26-27, 2019; Feb 9-10, 2019.
- 2nd semester: 09/03/2019 – 16/06/2019 (6 sessions)
meeting dates: 09-10.03.2019; March 23-24, 2019; 04/06/2019; April 27-28, 2019; May 18-19, 2019; 01-02.06.2019.
June 15-16, 2019 – diploma exams;
29/06/2019 – graduation (diplomas).
Expense
The tuition fee is PLN 5,000 (PLN 2,500 for 1 semester).
The organizers propose accommodation in Hotel “Ikar” located on the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) (building No. 39).
