Prof. Agnieszka Wierzbicka joins the Council of Directors of the research institutes at PAS
Prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Wierzbicka has been appointed to join the Council of Directors of the research institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Wierzbicka is the Head of the Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology, PAS.
The Council of Directors of research institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences is an advisory board to the President of the Academy regarding issues related to the activities of the Academy’s research units.
Members of the Academy are selected by the General Assembly of PAS from scientists who are distinguished by their outstanding achievements in research and prestige within the scientific community. The Assembly comprises local (ordinary and corresponding) and foreign members.
The Polish Academy of Sciences is a Polish state-sponsored institution of higher learning. It is responsible for spearheading the development of science and setting the highest standards of research quality and ethical norms. It also serves society by enriching the national culture.
PAS conducts advanced research of strategic importance for the development of science, society, and economy in its research institutes as well as produces opinions on the most important issues contributing to the country’s development.
One of the Academy’s priorities is to support various forms of international scientific cooperation, educate academic staff, especially by conducting doctoral studies and organizing postdoctoral internships.
An important issue related to the Academy’s activities is to promote science in general.
