Organization of science in winter semestr 2020/2021
Education at SGGW in the winter semester 2020/2021
In the winter semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, classes at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences will be conducted for all forms and levels of education in the form of hybrid , i.e. both through direct contact with the lecturers and with the use of distance learning methods and techniques.
The introduction of a hybrid model of education at WULS-SGGW is the result of the persistent epidemic threat and the applicable sanitary regime, and the safety of the academic community is our priority.
In order to ensure the highest safety standards, all lectures on 1st and 2nd degree courses will be carried out remotely, as well as those classes, the implementation of which will not require a direct meeting of lecturers and students and access to specialized laboratories. This rule applies to both full-time and part-time studies. Remote classes will be conducted using two basic IT tools, i.e. Moodle platoforms with the BigBlueButton tool and MS TEAMS application.
Other classes, including classes and seminars, will be conducted in a mixed mode (theoretical part on-line, and the practical part at the university’s premises), or only in the form of full-time at the university (if required by the specificity of the classes), in compliance with safety rules and regime sanitary.
1st year students (1st semester at 1st cycle studies) all laboratory, clinical and practical classes will be carried out in a traditional way. Direct meetings with deans and training sessions will be organized for newly admitted students, which will provide information on the principles of studying, students’ rights and obligations, organizational matters, and the opportunities for development and spending time offered to students by WULS-SGGW. This will enable getting to know the environment and integration with the academic community.
For final semester students (semester 7 of first-cycle studies and semester 3 of second-cycle studies) non-lecture classes (laboratories, tutorials, etc.) will be held in the traditional way. This should make it easier for students to prepare their diploma theses and to take the diploma examinations on time, and to have access to a library and specialized laboratories.
Physical education classes and foreign language classes will be conducted remotely, excluding classes for students of the 1st semester of first-cycle studies. Registration will be conducted remotely.
Classes in postgraduate studies and other forms of education may be conducted in a traditional manner. If the specific nature of the classes or the size of the groups make it impossible to carry them out in the traditional mode, the remote mode is acceptable.
Support for students in the dean’s offices and the Student Affairs Office is carried out in compliance with the sanitary regime. It is recommended to contact us electronically in the first place.
Detailed timetables for individual years and fields of study will be published on the Faculty’s websites by September 18, 2020.
The commencement of classes in full-time studies in the academic year 2020/2021 is planned on October 1. Classes during part-time studies will be carried out in accordance with the detailed schedules established by the Deans.
The official inauguration of the academic year will take place on September 30, 2020. at 10.00. Due to epidemic reasons, we invite you to the broadcast to be held on the platform YouTube SGGW .
The above assumptions are subject to change due to current decisions Ministry of Science and Higher Education and current sanitary recommendations.
