Landscape Architecture Students designed the vicinity of the future Student Service Center
Landscape Architecture Students took part in the contest for a design of an area around the Student Service Center which is to be built on the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences
The projects were carried out by the students of semester 7 of the first-cycle engineering studies in the 2022/2023 academic year as part of the course coordinated by dr inż. Kinga Kimic from the Department of Landscape Architecture, Institute of Environmental Engineering, SGGW. The team of academics also included: mgr inż. Jakub Botwina co-leader of the project, dr hab. Piotr Sikorski in terms of phytosociology, and dr hab. Agata Cieszewska and Dr. Piotr Wałdykowski in terms of physiography consultations.
The main assumptions forming the basis of student projects included the following aspects:
- Creating a facility and space that are functional and coherent with the SGGW campus.
- Implementation of sustainable solutions aimed at counteracting the negative effects of climate change and improving the quality of staying at the SGGW Campus.
- Shaping a space with high social values, accessible, meeting the expectations of the academic community (students, academic staff, and other people), guests, and other users.
- Creating a positive image of the place – a representative SGGW area, an attractive, modern and hospitable space for everyone.
Five out of 10 projects were qualified for the final stage. These are projects diversified in terms of suggested spatial and functional solutions, and pro-environmental elements. The contest gave students the opportunity to join the discussion on shaping the SGGW campus in a sustainable and user-friendly way, as well as to design a selected fragment in accordance with their needs and expectations.
The best projects were presented during the Seminar of the Department of Landscape Architecture in the SGGW Main Library. The following project teams took part in the final stage:
