KATAMARAN Program Summary
Ten foreigners studying at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) and Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), SGGW partner institution, have completed international joint second-cycle studies financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the KATAMARAN Program.
The official end of the POLish-KAZakh International Joint Master in Environmental Engineering: “Modern engineering in water management” project led by dr Jarosław Choromański took place on 27 June 2023 in SGGW Main Library.
The representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University were welcomed by the SGGW Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, dr hab. Marta Mendel.
The joint initiative of SGGW and KazNARU offers an international Master’s degree program in Environmental Engineering focusing on modern water management practices. It gives an opportunity to participate in practical lectures both in Poland and Kazakhstan and enables students to gain exceptional knowledge and skills.
The main objective of the project was to increase the competitiveness of Poland and Kazakhstan in the field of water engineering and management.
In the face of ongoing climate change, water resource issues specialists are more and more in demand all over the world.
The main outcome of the project was the implementation of joint master’s degree studies. The graduates have expertise in area of environmental engineering, especially in the field of sustainable and integrated water management and modern water engineering. During joint field and laboratory classes, distance learning, and participation of world-class specialists, students improved their intercultural, language, and interpersonal skills.
