Jarosław Olszewski at the head of the KRD
Jarosław Olszewski will head the National Representation of PhD students in 2021. He is the second chairman in history from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
The election of the new KRD authorities took place during the 17th Congress of Delegates, which was organized online due to sanitary restrictions. Four candidates competed for the chairmanship, including Aleksy Borówka, who is currently holding this position. Ultimately, the president was elected for the 2021 term Jaroslaw Olszewski , present member of the Audit Committee of the NDS. Is a graduate of the Interdepartmental Study of Biotechnology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, and since 2016 a doctoral student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He works as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Large Animal Diseases at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. It will be 13. helmsman in the history of KRD and the second from SGGW (after Robert Kiliańczyk in the terms of 2012 and 2013).
He started his local government activity at the Doctoral Students’ Council of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, where he was the chairman. This year he headed the Warsaw PhD Students Alliance. As part of his local government activity, he participated in the creation of the Regulations of the Doctoral School of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, and was involved in the organization of such events as the Warsaw PhD Student Ball, the Conference “Model of Doctoral Schools” or “Warsaw PhD Students Championship in PubQuiz”. For his research on the development of nanoparticle markers for cancer diagnostics in magnetic and fluorescent contrast, he was awarded in the category “ Young Inventor “ in the Innovation Leader competition.
In his election program, he proposed, inter alia, extensive questionnaire research on the functioning of Act 2.0 and preparation of a report being the basis for the proposed changes. It also intends to organize a nationwide job fair for the R&D sector and a nationwide, open Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference
for PhD students and PhD students. I am planning an online series of publications presenting the activities of PhD students
and PhD students in various academic centers. One of the points of its program is also the creation of the Council
Consultation responsible for communication between the agreements and the KRD. In the field of social affairs, it proposes to divide the pool of ministerial awards for young scientists into doctoral students and for people with doctoral degrees. Moreover, it wants to enable the participants of Doctoral Schools to apply for access to material assistance related to a temporary difficult financial situation, on the terms analogous to participants of doctoral studies.
The following were also elected to the KRD Management Board: Adriana Kuligowska , PhD student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the University of Białystok; Aleksandra Makarewicz , PhD student at the Doctoral School of the Medical University of Karol Marcinkowski in Poznań; Mariola Pirek , PhD student at the Doctoral School of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University; Jakub Szczepkowski , chairman of the Doctoral Students’ Council of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń; Patrycja Uram , PhD student at the Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Adam Zwoliński , chairman of the Board of the University Council of Doctoral Students’ Self-Government of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
The National Representation of Doctoral Students is a nationwide representative and exponent of the will of the doctoral students community. Its statutory tasks include promoting the environment of doctoral students, as well as its educational, social, economic and cultural needs; presenting applications in matters concerning all doctoral students, including issuing opinions on draft normative acts; protection of the rights and interests of doctoral students in the country and Polish doctoral students abroad; taking care to improve the quality of doctoral student education; supporting and promoting the self-government of doctoral students; creating and promoting in the doctoral environment attitudes focused on active cooperation in the development of civil society; supporting the mobility of doctoral students and conducting activities that disseminate science.
