INAUGURATION OF THE 2023/2024 ACADEMIC YEAR
Gaudeamus igitur!
Once again, a new academic year begins with the promise of new and challenges. We all hope for a successful one. Today, we believe that innovative projects and interdisciplinary research will soon begin as well. With the help of our academics, the students will start a journey into the fascinating world of knowledge. The enthusiasm and confidence we feel today drive us to action. Let it stay with us as long as possible.
These were the words of prof. dr hab. Michał Zasada, the Rector of Warsaw University of Life Sciences, during the official inauguration of the academic year, held on 29 September 2023, in the Crystal Hall, SGGW.
Achievements and Plans
Opening a new chapter in life requires taking stock of gains and losses, which will make us aware of what we have accomplished and what actions we should take to achieve the desired results in the new reality. The inauguration of the academic year is, therefore, a good opportunity to showcase achievements and weave plans for the future. Summing up the past year, I can say that our university has effectively utilized that time, and I assure you that this year, we will make more efforts to strengthen its position.
Science and Funding
Science development is the fundamental goal of academic activity. However, to be successful, adequate financial resources are essential. Our university has a stable economic situation, which has allowed for an increase in the value of funds accumulated through our own research and teaching development funds. Moreover, we have established our own fund for the maintenance and development of infrastructure.
Internationalization
In the era of globalization, the dynamic development of international cooperation is a cornerstone. We live in times where efficient functioning in the global scientific community is essential, and collaboration with the best foreign universities has become the norm.
The inaugural lecture titled: “Why is Hollywood not a part of Warsaw?” was given by Professor Andrzej Krakowski, the City College of New York.
