Resources of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences
- Currently the main online learning platform at the University is the Moodle platform: https://e.sggw.pl administered by the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics / Institute of Technical Informatics. In the system, everyone creates an account for themselves, more advanced access options – to be obtained from the administrator.
- The Moodle system is also an authentication tool used by the Big Blue Button system, allowing for teleconferences, sharing the screen and application windows in an interactive mode.
- University cloud disk IIT
- As part of the POWER project, a centralized Microsoft Teams service for employees and students was launched at SGGW. It greatly facilitates communication and enables us to organize teaching activities in more efficient and organized way.
- The SGGW TV team can support the recording of lectures to be posted on the YouTube platform as soon as possible.
Publicly available IT tools supporting distance learning
- Teleconference systems
- Microsoft Teams: https://products.office.com/pl-pl/microsoft-teams/free (limitation of the number of participants).
- Webex (Cisco): https://cart.webex.com/ (limited to 100 participants, registration required, account creation takes 24 hours).
- Zoom (used, among others, by Harvard): https://zoom.us/ (The 40-minute limit per session has been temporarily lifted by the company. It is possible to join the conference call without an account).
- Discord (a communication tool for network games, but used for distance learning): https://discordapp.com/
Conference systems also have various possibilities of sharing screens, windows, applications, cooperation, etc. They are often used to organize lectures and other online classes.
- Youtube (live streaming, video sharing. Necessary to turn on the streaming service lasting about 24 hours): https://www.youtube.com/
- Virtual Board: https://awwapp.com/
Communication with students
The organization of online classes requires effective communication with students. For example, providing access codes to courses, conferences or broadcasts. When using various tools, it is necessary to remember about the recommendations related to the protection of personal data (see https://uodo.gov.pl/ )
