Dr Wojciech Mincewicz awarded for the best doctoral thesis on national security
Dr Wojciech Mincewicz, a researcher and academic at the Department of Sociology, the Institute of Sociology and Pedagogy, SGGW, triumphed in the 13th edition of the nationwide competition organised by the Head of the Internal Security Agency [CBA] for the best doctoral, master’s or bachelor’s thesis on national security concerning intelligence, terrorist, economic threats.
The award-winning thesis entitled “Polityka państw wobec powstania i rozwoju kryptowalut: analiza empiryczna” [The State policies in relation to the emergence and development of cryptocurrencies: an empirical analysis] [p. 462] is an interdisciplinary work of theoretical and empirical study. To identify potential policies that states may undertake in the face of the emergence and development of cryptocurrencies and to reconstruct their content was the research objective of the study. The empirical research carried out among cryptocurrency users in Poland (policy recipients) allowed the author to evaluate the developed policy models, as well as to outline a socio-political portrait of a statistical crypto-user.
The thesis was reviewed by Prof. dr hab. Maria Marczewska-Rytko, Prof. dr hab. Tomasz Goban-Klas, Prof. dr hab. Miron Lakomy. The thesis formed the basis for awarding the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences in the discipline of Political Science and Administration, which was conferred to the laureate on 11 May 2023 on the basis of the Resolution of the Scientific Council of the Disciplines of Political Science and Administration and Security Science of the University of Warsaw. The degree was awarded with honours.
