A word from the Rector to the Academic Community

Ladies and Gentlemen, Christmas and the New Year are coming. I do hope that for all of us this will be the time of rest and family meetings. I also hope that in the incoming year we will finally feel a relief from worries and witness so much expected improvement in the world situation. With that, we will be able to waive the restrictions and enjoy person-to-person encounters and the freedom of movement.

Laureate of the program Stanisława Ulama NAWA will conduct research at the SGGW

Prof. Seid Mahdi Jafari has been awarded scholarship under the Ulam Programme NAWA. Prof. Seid Mahdi Jafari (Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources) - a global specialist in nano and microencapsulation, will conduct research on "Integrated low temperature process for the production of improved natural colorant powder from purple carrot" during his stay at our department, during the period from March to September 2022. The co-author of the application and the coordinator of the stay is Katarzyna Samborska.

Visit of delegation of the Union of Rectors of Universities of Ukraine to Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW)

On November 10, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences hosted a delegation of the Union of Rectors of Universities of Ukraine as part of the conference "Polish-Ukrainian Rectors' Forum (PURF)" organised by the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology. The conference was organised within the framework of the fourth stage of the first cycle from the period 2018-2021 of the support project of the Ministry of Education and Science in Poland entitled "Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation Of Academic Stakeholder Organisations Representing Rectors For Improving University Performance".

Prof. Dr. Jimmy Mazurkiewicz of Texas A&M University as Honorary Doctor of the SGGW

On 17 September 2021, Rector Prof. Michał Zasada presided over the long-awaited ceremony of awarding the Honorary Doctorate to Prof. Dr. Jimmy Mazurkiewicz of Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University and decorating the SGGW employees with state awards. The Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Minister Adam Kwiatkowski granted the awards for outstanding research and teaching achievements and exemplary and particularly conscientious fulfilment of professional duties. Due to the pandemic situation, these events could not be held this year in May, the month in which they are traditionally organised every year.
