How to prepare for the medical examination?
Blood test
- Test should be taken in the morning, i.e. between 7:40 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.,
- Fasting – eat your last meal on the day before the test not later than at 6 p.m.
- In the morning before the test, drink a glass of still water,
- Be well rested – come to the blood test after an all-night rest,
- Avoid physical exertion for at least 12 hours before blood collection,
- Rest before the test – about 15 minutes in a sitting position before having the test taken,
- If you take any medicine on a regular basis, consult your doctor to see if it will affect the results of your tests and whether you may take it after the examination.
Urine test
- Before the examination, the patient should avoid significant physical exertion or long walks,
- At least one day before the planned collection of the urine, it is recommended to refrain from sexual intercourse,
- During the premenstrual period and during menstruation, consideration should be given to whether the study should not be postponed,
- Use special disposable container – available from your doctor or treatment room,
- Wash your hands before taking a urine sample, followed by the opening of the urethra
- In the container urinate from the so-called. “middle stream”: – the first small amount of urine should be returned to the toilet, – then urinate in a container, – the final portion of urine should be returned to the toilet,
- Close the urine sample container tightly,
- Provide a urine sample to our Treatment Room as soon as possible,
- If you can not deliver the container immediately, put it in the refrigerator and bring it for examination within 2-3 hours,
- NOTE: If you are unable to urinate into a vessel (e.g. a patient who is bedridden), urine should be taken into a special plastic bag that is fitted in such a way as to cover the outer urethra. Pouches are available in pharmacies.
Stool test
- Before the test, get a sterile stool container available in pharmacies,
- Use the attached spatula to put the sample into the container,
- take the test material from different parts of the same stool,
- The feces sample taken for testing should be the size of a walnut,
- Secure the sample and deliver it to the Treatment Room as soon as possible,
- The test is performed during a standard diet – not during the period of reduced /abundant meals.
