Architecture – a new study programme at SGGW
The decision of the Ministry of Education and Science
On August 4, 2023, the decision to introduce Architecture, a new study programme at SGGW, was issued by the Minister of Education and Science. The first and second cycle studies will be available at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, SGGW. The Faculty’s application was positively verified by the Polish Accreditation Committee (Resolutions: 604/2023 and 605/2023 as of 27 July 2023).
Architecture – a practical study programme
Architecture is considered to be a fascinating and creative field of study that combines art, and science, with designing buildings and different types of spaces. All candidates interested in the design, construction and aesthetics of buildings and their impact on the environment and people will find the course very attractive.
Studying architecture include many different areas, such as:
Architectural Design – the heart of this study programme. Students learn how to design buildings taking into account their functionality and aesthetics.
History and Theory of Architecture – the course during which the history of architecture over the centuries and various theories and concepts are discussed.
Built Structures and Technology – the course teaches the technical aspects of construction, including materials, construction methods, structure and engineering.
Urban and Spatial Planning – develops skills in designing cities, urban and rural areas, and spatial analysis.
Drawing and Computer Design – the course develops the use of traditional and modern tools used in design and visualization.
Warsaw University of Life Sciences develops engineering education
Engineering dynamically evolves as new technology is invented and the society and labour market continue to develop and change. Architecture at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences is a synergistic combination of engineering knowledge, aesthetics and functionalism. The new programme will give an opportunity to create modern and sustainable solutions that meet the expectations of the modern world.
Admission Rules
First compulsory subject: Mathematics. The second compulsory subject to be chosen from Physics or Geography or History or Art History or Computer Science or a modern foreign language or Polish language, or:
a diploma of the Technician for the renovation of architectural elements (311210), and an exam checking artistic abilities consisting of two parts:
Part 1. A drawing from Nature,
Part 2. A drawing from Imagination.
