Animal Bioengineering

The study program covers interdisciplinary issues in the field of applying the latest methods of genetic engineering in laboratory work on animal organisms. Students gain knowledge and practical skills in the field of the functioning of animal organisms at the molecular, tissue and general levels. They also gain knowledge on the use of nanosciences and nanobiotechnologies in working on animal models and the use of bioinformatics tools. Half of the classes are practical. Students perform laboratory activities on their own, gaining knowledge of molecular, biochemical and analytical methods and techniques.
The study program includes:
FIRST CYCLE STUDIES: mathematics, chemistry, biochemistry, zoology, animal anatomy and physiology, genetics, molecular biology techniques, microbial biology, histology and embryology, genetic engineering, environmental toxicology, in vitro breeding and bioinformatics.
SECOND CYCLE STUDIES (depending on the chosen path): molecular basis of functioning
genome, Prokaryote physiology, cytophysiology, histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques, liposomal technologies, tissue engineering, basic and preclinical studies of biomolecules.
During their studies, students undergo internships in:
• analytical, diagnostic and molecular laboratories,
• scientific and research institutes,
• biotechnology companies in Poland and abroad.

After this direction, you can work in:
• biotechnology industry dealing with the production of bioactive substances used in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine and animal production,
• diagnostic and analytical laboratories using animal models in research,
• nanobiotechnology industry,
• research, education, control and government units (Polish and foreign), with
with particular emphasis on animal protection and feed and food regulation.
