70th Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics, SGGW
The Faculty of Economics, SGGW celebrated its 70th anniversary. The event brought together our distinguished academics, alumni, university staff, as well as other important figures representing Polish and European business and political spheres. The ceremony was initiated by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, dr hab.Marcin Ratajczak, who welcomed the guests.
Education is the foundation of all human aspirations. It is the noblest element of human consciousness. Education enables people to achieve their full mental and physical potential, both in personal and social life, said Dr Ratajczak.
Then, professor Jarosław Gołębiewski, addressed the new students, drawing their attention to the market challenges associated with the global economy and changes in the job market. Some of these professions we can’t even imagine. OECD predicts that 65% of the children starting their education will be working in professions that do not currently exist, said Vice-Rector Gołębiewski.
University studies are not only about studying but also about passions and interests. At SGGW, you can engage in student council activities and join numerous student organizations, providing you with opportunities for personal growth and active participation in social life. As SGGW students, you will have a wide range of options for international exchange programs under various European initiatives. An important element supporting the internationalization of education and scientific research, as well as obtaining joint or double degrees, will be the implementation of the European University project within the UNIgreen alliance. I strongly encourage you to participate in this initiative, added prof. Gołębiewski.
This symbolic moment perfectly reflects the nature of academic activity – the next generation join the university community to continue the work of their predecessors, inspired by their experiences and achievements. The Faculty of Economics has had and continues to have a significant impact not only on our University but also on economics not just nationally, but also in European, and global perspectives, said prof dr hab. Michał Zasada, SGGW Rector.
