Background of Summer School / Introduction
Universities operating within ELLS already have experience in development of activities, also common ones, in the field of bioeconomy. The novel aspect of the proposed initiave is to focus on PhD education and research. It is in line with ELLS strategy objectives. This specific focus allows to shape activities adjusted to this target group, which faces challenges both in education as well as research. Added value of the project is that PhD student will get the most updated background on current research methods and areas from the international perspective), they can start networking in the fields they are interested in (with other students as well as professors/experts).
Maximum number of participants: 36 PhD students (6 PhD student from one university – 6 Universities and 6 seminars)
Pre-requisites: Verifying the compliance of doctoral students’ applications (compliance with the subject matter – this assessment will be carried out by the event organizers).

Course Content
The project includes the following operations:
online seminars under bioeconomy umbrella and focused on: agronomy/agriculture, food sciences, animal sciences, forestry, economics and business, environmental engineering
Part of the seminar for delivering the most important current issues in research/research methodology in particular disciplines (to signalize what is important, which research directions are currently developed, which topics are important/perspective etc.)
Part of the seminar for discussion on PhD students’ ideas, feedback for students’ presentation (presentation outline sent in advance or stored on TEAMS platform – visible for the professor and for other students)
Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)
Formation of cooperation and relations between early career researchers and also academic staff of participating universities; networking, an opportunity for long-term contacts and scientific development.
Bioeconomy awareness among representatives of different specific disciplines of science
Development of scientific communication – including soft skills necessary to work in the international environment
Increase in ELLS awareness among academic staff, PhD students but also other stakeholders (external experts, entrepreneurs)
